The Sutherland Approach
Sutherland’s circuits might look like electronic haiku, but these beautiful layouts are driven solely by the needs of the signal. In his quest for simplicity, Ron Sutherland creates designs with the shortest possible signal paths, almost a replica of the schematic.
In all of the Sutherland circuits, you can clearly follow the signal path from one end of the board to the other, and there are usually no extra conveniences or features to offer. This is because Ron insists that every part be exactly where they are needed for ultimate signal integrity.
